Beyoncé and Blue Ivy dazzle in matching outfits on The Lion King red carpet

Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy stole the red carpet at last night’s Los Angeles premiere of The Lion King, in co-ordinating statement outfits.

The singer, who stars in the Disney remake, wore an elaborate custom-made Alexander McQueen look, consisting of an embellished deep-cut blazer and a crystal-covered sheer skirt. She accessorised with a matching embellished clutch, glittering heels and layers of jewellery.

She was joined by her seven-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who has clearly inherited the good style gene. The youngster made a confident entrance with her mother, dressed in a matching embellished blazer and sheer skirt.

She wore her hair in two buns with crystal bands, while Beyoncé wore hers in braids that swirled to frame her face.

The singer’s former Destiny’s Child band members, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, were also at the Los Angeles premiere to show their support, alongside her mother, Tina Knowles.

Beyoncé will star alongside Donald Glover in the Disney classic remake, voicing Nala and Simba respectively. The pair will cover Elton John’s beloved Can You Feel The Love Tonight? which was previewed on Beyoncé’s YouTube page.

The starry cast also sees Chiwetel Ejiofor play Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogan as Pumbaa, and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa.

The Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau, who helmed the remake of the live-action version of The Jungle Book. The original 1994 Lion King version remains the highest-grossing hand-drawn animated movie ever made.

The Lion King hits cinemas on 19 July.
