Beyonce’s father Mathew Knowles shared a video to talk about THAT backstage photo of himself with his superstar daughter and his ex-wife Tina Lawson.

He revealed his visit was a complete surprise to them both, but said it went well because he had Tina, 64, have ‘never been enemies.’

Talking to TMZ, Mathew, 66, said: ‘The meeting was a warm and positive one. It was her last show and I wanted to surprise her.

‘I gave her a dozen lovely red roses and sat in the backstage area, where Tina was along with some other folks.

‘As she came out, I was there and she gave me a huge hug, the sort of hug that only a daughter can give to their dads. She was surprised I was there.’

He added that the photo of Beyonce, 37,  with both of her parents, was her own idea.

Mathew, 66, said: ‘The meeting was a warm and positive one. It was her last show and I wanted to surprise her’ he brought roses and said his daughter ‘hugged him like only a daughter could’

Confusion: Mathew says he often gets his current wife Gena (pictured in December 2016) mixed up with his ex wife Tina

He said: ‘It was important to her and important to all of us. Tina and I have never been enemies. I have nothing but positive things to say about her.’

Mathew married second wife Gena in 2013 after divorcing long-term love Tina in 2011, and admits he often gets his current wife and his ex-wife’s names mixed up.

He said: ‘I get Tina and Gena confused.’

Mathew also said that when he saw Beyonce, she told him she was feeling a mixture of happy and sad.

Reunited and it feels so good: The pictures were taken backstage at the final show of the On the Run II Tour

Touching moment: ‘Love seeing this in Seattle ! Daddy and daughter❤️,’ Beyonce’s mother Tina shared on her Instagram

He said: ‘She told me she was happy that the tour had come to an end, but she was also sad that the tour has ended because she will miss her fans.’

Beyonce and her father Mathew Knowles have had a much-talked about rocky relationship since she dismissed him as her manager in 2011.

But they looked incredibly happy when the pop superstar shared the photo of herself backstage with her dad at the final show of her On the Run II Tour with husband Jay-Z on October 4.

‘Love seeing this in Seattle ! Daddy and daughter,’ Beyonce’s mother Tina captioned when she shared the pic on her Instagram.

In the picture, both father and daughter are flashing big beaming smiles as they embrace in a raw show of emotion.

The singer was dressed down in sweat pants and a half-shirt in the photo, but she still oozed that Beyonce charm and charisma as she snuggled up to her dad in a series of snaps.

Beyonce was seen carrying a bouquet of rose on what was a celebratory night for her and Jay.

The Seattle show wrapped up their hugely successful OTR2 Tour that began back in June.

Team players: Beyonce also marked the end of the OTR2 Tour with a special thanks in a video to her husband and tourmate Jay-Z

Mission accomplished: The superstar couple has been on the road with the OTR2 Tour since June

‘Thank you to all of our loved ones who came out to support OTR2,’ Beyonce captioned in the photo with her dad. ‘And a huge thank you to the hardest working crew in show business. We couldn’t have done this without each of you beautiful human beings.’

The Lemonade singer also gave special thanks to her hubby in a video she posted on her Instagram.

‘To Shawn Carter, my Clyde, my best friend: this journey on OTR2 has been a highlight of my life,’ she wrote in the caption. ‘Thank you for every moment. I’ll be your hype man any day! To the Hive and all the fans who supported OTR2, cheers to you and I. Salud!’

Going strong: Beyonce and Jay-Z have been married since 2008

The Grammy Award winning singer’s career began to gain traction after she joined the girl group Girls Tyme when she was just 8-years old. Her dad ended up quitting his full-time sales job to co-manage the band two years later.

The band would eventually became Destiny’s Child, which three years later signed a seven-album deal with Columbia/Sony.

Mathew co-managed Destiny’s Child throughout, and was also credited as executive producer on Beyonce’s first solo album Dangerously In Love, before she ended her working relationship with her father in 2011.

For the most part, Beyoncé has been pretty tight-lipped about their relationship.

She did reveal that tension began to surface  at 18 when she started handling more of her own business matters.

‘We had our issues. I’d say no to something, and he’d book it anyway,’ she admitted. ‘Then I’d have to do it because I’d look bad [if I didn’t].

Some have speculated that her song Daddy Lessons, on her latest album Lemonade, was an ode to her childhood with her dad.

‘Came into this world / Daddy’s little girl / And daddy made a soldier out of me,’ she sings in the beginning of the song. ‘Daddy made me dance / And daddy held my hand / And daddy liked his whisky with his tea…’

Solo artist: The superstar singer ended her working relationship with her father in 2011
