Girls basketball: Washougal 66, Columbia River 27

 

Jaiden Bea scored 15 points, Beyonce Bea added 13 and the Panthers completed 2A Greater St. Helens League play undefeated.

For Washougal (16-4, 12-0), finishing league play unbeaten has been a focus for a while.

“It was something we talked about right after tryouts,” coach Britney Knotts said. “This was one of the goals, undefeated league champs. It’s right in front of you. Go take it.”

Skylar Bea had 11 points and five assists for Washougal. Beyonce Bea added six rebounds and five steals while Jaiden Bea chipped in seven rebounds and four steals.

Washougal opens district tournament play Friday by hosting Rochester, the No. 4 seed from the Evergreen Conference.

Columbia River (12-8, 7-5) finishes tied for second with Woodland. River is the No. 3 seed after Woodland won a coin-flip tiebreaker.

Woodland will host Black Hills on Friday while River travels to Tumwater.
